Jeff Bach believes that Bene-Care’s commitment to its employees and clients combined with its adaptability and innovation, has driven its success.

“All of these things ensure that we continue to meet and exceed expectations in an ever-changing market,” said Bach, who became the Webster-based firm’s president and CEO, as well as its majority owner, earlier this year.

He succeeds his father, Bill Bach, who founded Bene-Care in 1973 and will continue to serve as chairman of the board.

Both say the transition marks an important milestone in Bene-Care’s 50-plus year history as a locally owned, family-run business, noting the second-generation leadership will focus on growth, innovation and a continued commitment to the community it serves.

Bene-Care was founded to help businesses manage the complexities of employee benefits. The goal was to serve as an extension of an employer’s benefits department, providing expert guidance and personalized support.

As the needs of businesses evolved, so did Bene-Care — expanding into , HR solutions and services — while maintaining a commitment to service and long-term client relationships.

Jeff Bach began his career at Bene-Care over 26 years ago, working alongside his father to grow the business organically from a small claims processing operation with roughly five employees into a full-service partner supporting thousands of employers across New York.

The company now has two office locations, including one in Buffalo, a team of nearly 80 employees and a range of solutions that continue to evolve with the needs of its clients.

“My father built this company on a foundation of trust, relationships and doing what’s right for our clients and our employees,” Jeff Bach said. “I’m honored to carry that mission forward and continue building on the vision he started.”

Jeff Bach said the leadership transition has been smooth, noting it followed a succession plan and complements the work he had previously been doing at the firm related to strategic development, including overseeing the addition of new service lines.

His leadership style will also reflect the way he has done business at the firm, he said, adding that he favors a flat management approach that focuses on open communication and transparency.

Bene-Care has evolved by expanding services, embracing technology and staying ahead of industry trends, he added.

For example, the firm has integrated advanced solutions, adapted to regulatory changes and enhanced client support to meet evolving business needs.

Jeff Bach also knows the importance of flexibility and adaptability when it comes to growth.

“Risk is part of being in business, and it shouldn’t stop you from making decisions that will move the company forward,” he said.

The younger Bach has learned from his father, noting Bill Bach embodies a strong work ethic, is fiscally responsible and knows there are no shortcuts to success.

“He has always told me that something’s only worth what someone’s willing to pay for it,” Jeff Bach said.

Challenges for the business include keeping up with quickly evolving technologies while being cognizant of which ones will add value to the business and best serve its clients.

Bene-Care is focused on controlled growth, he added, noting the company will likely hit the 100 employees mark this year.

Moving forward, Bene-Care’s core values — personalized service, integrity and innovation — will continue to shape everything the firm does, Jeff Bach said, adding the mission is to simplify workforce management by providing tailored solutions, seamless technology and expert support.

The business is also committed to the Rochester area, Jeff Bach said, noting that being independent gives the firm greater flexibility.

“We plan to remain a regional player,” he said.
