LaBella, Erdman Anthony and Popli honored for engineering excellence

Three Rochester-area multidisciplinary firms were recognized for their work by the American Council of Companies’ annual Engineering Excellence Awards, including platinum wins for and .

LaBella was recognized with the platinum award for work on the State Street Reconstruction project in the city of Rochester.

The project included pavement widening of State Street from Basin Street to the Inner Loop, curb modifications and bump-outs, new sidewalks, driveway aprons, lighting, drainage basins, pavement markings, signing, landscaping and traffic signal improvements.

LaBella also won gold in the Studies, Research and Consulting Services category for Lake Erie Beach Shoreline Management Solutions in the Erie County town of Evans.

Erdman Anthony received a platinum award in the Structural Systems category for the Black Diamond Trail Bridge in Ithaca and gold in the Transportation category for the city of Rochester’s South Avenue and Elmwood Avenue Reconstruction project.

Work on South and Elmwood avenues was a multi-year project that included full-depth pavement reconstruction, new sidewalks, traffic signals, pavement markings, mid-block pedestrian crossing enhancements, hydrants, lighting and signage. A hydrodynamic separator also was installed to remove sediment from stormwater runoff using the force of gravity.

“These projects align perfectly with our goals to upgrade Rochester’s transportation infrastructure to be multimodal, and these awards are a testament to our commitment to making Rochester the best city it can be,” Mayor Malik Evans said in a news release about the State Street and South/Elmwood avenue projects.

won gold in the Structural Systems category for two projects:

Tileyard Road over Flint Creek Bridge Replacement in the Ontario County town of Gorham, and Replacement of Pine Street Bridge over Canacadea Creek in the Allegany County village of Alfred.
