Megan Houppert
CEO, Home Leasing
Years in current role: As of Jan. 1, 2025
What was the most significant challenge your organization faced in 2024, and how did you address it?
In 2024 we took on the challenge of revitalizing the highly distressed but vital corner of North Clinton and East Main in downtown, to create Harper’s Corner. Securing the sites and the financing was a tremendous feat, but we were successful thanks to our partnership with several other organizations such as the city of Rocester, Empire State Development, Monroe County, Rochester Revitalization Program, Greater Rochester Housing Partnership, NYS Homes and Community Renewal and many others.
What trends or innovations in your industry do you anticipate having the biggest impact in 2025?
I anticipate green building innovation will continue to support our efforts to build highly efficient communities, incorporating things like geothermal and solar technology.
What role do you see Rochester playing in your organization’s growth over the next few years?
The Rochester community has always played a significant role in our company’s growth. We own and manage approximately 500 units downtown and are always looking for impactful projects to advance in the great Rochester region.
What community initiatives or partnerships are you most excited about engaging with this year?
I am proud that our Harper’s Corner project will advance the goal of activating downtown, bringing new residents and business to East Main Steet.
How do you balance fostering innovation while managing day-to-day business operations?
We find this balance by aligning innovation with our company’s mission, core values and daily operations in order to advance company goals.
