R.P. Fedder logoR.P. Fedder Industrial LLC is laying off half of its local workforce, a year after the Rochester-based company was acquired by an out-of-state firm.

The supplier and manufacturer of air filters and engineered air filtration solutions for some of the world’s largest companies filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification with the state Department of Labor that stated its plans to lay off up to 25 of the 51 employees at its Driving Park Avenue location.

The layoffs will take place between Dec. 6 and Dec. 20, according to the WARN notice.

Company leaders said the jobs affected were being transferred to Chicago, where Rensa Filtration, its parent company, is located.

They added that the layoffs will only affect employees in the custom manufacturing division of R.P. Fedder and employees have the option of moving to Illinois. Employees in the distribution division will not be affected.

Rensa Filtration, a manufacturer of consumable, mission-critical air filtration products, acquired R.P. Fedder last year.

R.P. Fedder was founded in 1959 in a Rochester garage and has served Eastman Kodak, Xerox and many other companies and facilities during its 65-year history.
