Crosman Corp. has alerted the state that it will lay off nearly all its local workforce, months after saying it will end production of one of its product lines at its Ontario County site, cutting a handful of jobs at the plant.

In an amended Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice filed with the state Department of Labor, the East Bloomfield-based air gun manufacturer said 112 of the 118 local workers will lose their jobs in a planned phase-out that will begin in early November and be completed by the end of January.

The sale of the business was listed as the reason for the job cuts. No additional information was provided.

Crosman is a designer, manufacturer and marketer of air guns, accessories and related consumables sold under the Crosman, Benjamin, Game Face, LaserMax and Centerpoint Optics brands.

In April, Compass Diversified – Crosman’s owner – said it had sold the business to Arkansas-based Daisy Manufacturing Co. Connecticut-based Compass acquired Crosman in 2006.

Crosman was founded in Rochester in 1923. The company moved to its current location in 1971.
