Genesee RiverWatch hosts 10th annual Summit, ‘The Future of the Basin’

Genesee RiverWatch LogoGenesee RiverWatch is hosting its 10th annual Genesee River Basin Summit from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. this Wednesday, May 22 at the Louise Slaughter Hall at Rochester Institute of Technology.  

The summit – entitled The Future of the Basin – will bring together key stakeholders, experts and community members to discuss and collaborate on strategies and plans to enhance the environmental, economic, and recreational aspects of the Genesee River Basin. 

The program includes a speech by Rochester Mayor Malik Evans and presentations on the progress of major riverside developments at both ends of the Genesee – in Rochester and in Allegany County.  

State environmental officials will also speak publicly for the first time about a new initiative to improve water quality throughout the Genesee River basin.  

In addition, speakers will discuss an initiative by the city of Rochester and Genesee RiverWatch to have the names of the three waterfalls in the city included on federal maps.
