Rochester Institute of Technology will officially break ground on construction of a new on-campus Tiger Stadium on Thursday.
The $30 million project will provide the men’s and women’s lacrosse and men’s and women’s soccer programs with a 38,828-square-foot facility. The target date for completion is the fall of 2025.
The stadium will be at the site of the current lacrosse and soccer facility. A new turf field already has been installed and the teams will continue to play at the site while construction on the building and stands takes place.
Seating capacity will be 1,180, with additional space in the hospitality room. There also will be standing room areas.
Amenities include new locker rooms, a training room, media suite, concession area, outdoor concourse and a hospitality room with a glass wall overlooking the field.
Once completed, RIT would be in a position to bid to host NCAA regional events while also providing the greater Rochester community with another athletic venue.
LaBella Associates of Rochester is the local architect of record, with support in the design process by global architectural firm Populous. Pike Construction Services is the construction management company.
RIT will use bonds to pay the the project.
