Over 400 guests are expected to attend the annual event, which raises funds in support of EPI’s epilepsy programs.
Amer Armbruster, an 18-year-old senior at Honeoye Falls-Lima High School, has been named Honorary Chair for this year’s gala.
Diagnosed with juvenile absence epilepsy in 2019, Armbruster has navigated the challenges often associated with such a diagnosis, from diligently managing medications to coping with its impact on his daily life.
In 2022, Armbruster organized Seize the Day, a 5K and 10K trail race held at Mendon Ponds Park. In just two years, the event has raised over $100,000 in support of EPI’s epilepsy services, including Camp EAGR, New York State’s only camp for children with epilepsy and their siblings.
“Epilepsy is still often misunderstood and still carries a stigma,” said Jeff Sinsebox, EPI president and CEO. “We are grateful for Amer’s enthusiasm and initiative. It is important to educate our community about epilepsy, its prevalence, and the impact that this condition has on the life of many children and adults in our community.”
