What was your biggest success in 2023?
For Optimax: We completed another expansion of our facility and hired about 150 employees, which will provide additional capacity to serve our customers.
For the community: In 2023, Gov. Hochul appointed me to serve on the New York State Workforce Investment Board; new responsibility, new opportunities.
What are your expectations for your organization in 2024?
2024 will be a year of preparation for the next phase of growth. Optimax makes precision optics for the semiconductor industry, which is onshoring and retooling, and for the aerospace industry, which supports communication satellites.
What are you most concerned about this year?
With more than 100 new employees, I am concerned about their integration into our workforce, providing opportunities for employee voice and addressing their concerns to ensure a healthy workplace environment.
If you couldn’t work in your current industry, what would you want to do instead?
Work at a scuba diving shop in the Caribbean.
What is your favorite activity to do in Rochester?
Hiking to waterfalls — there are many beautiful falls in the Finger Lakes.
