CPL acquires Ohio architecture firm Makovich & Pusti

CPL, a full-service design firm headquartered in Rochester, has acquired Cleveland-based Makovich & Pusti Architects.

With an an expertise in healthcare, higher education and public sector work, the addition of Makovich & Pusti further strengthens CPL’s reach.

The acquisition means CPL now has its first office in Ohio, adding to a geographic footprint that includes Rochester, Buffalo, Pittsburgh and 15 other locations across five states.

“The share commitment to a client-focused practice and blending of cultures and talents will allow us to provide national expertise to meet the complex and diverse needs of their clients,” CPL CEO Todd Liebert said in a news release. “Culture is key and MPA brings the same energy and values to their business and clients as CPL. We’re committed to scaling our capabilities and preserving the creativity and agility that MPA provides.”

The MPA portfolio includes projects for Cleveland Clinic, Kent State University and the city of Cleveland. The firm was founded in 1986.

“When seeking a partner, our goal was to find a firm that shares a common set of core principles and mission-driven values,” MPA president Don Rerko said. “The opportunity to join the CPL team will allow us to broaden our scope and scale our services more quickly to meet the growing needs of clients.”

Founded in 1975, CPL has a workforce of 485 providing architecture, engineering and planning services for the healthcare, community, academic and transportation sectors.
