Special Care Systems co-founder and president Ann Kowal has retired and the business has been sold to Brian Gray and Vince Mannella, members of the firm’s management team.
Headquartered in Irondequoit, Special Care Systems provides products, technical and design support, training and customer service to the healthcare industry.
The firm was founded by Kowal and husband Myron in 2002, recognizing that nursing homes, hospitals and clinics needed better alert systems.
Gray and Mannella have more than 35 years of combined experience in technology sales, networking solutions and management.
Gray, president of sales and marketing, has been with Special Care Systems since 2009 and manages a sales team across the Northeast and into the Midwest. Mannella joined the firm in 2016 and is president of operations and business development.
“We are excited to carry on Ann’s legacy and the Special Care name, which is synonymous with healthcare communications,” Mannella said in a news release. “We are also excited about expanding our reach to provide the products and services that make us who we are today to the rest of the Northeast and beyond.”
Kowal will remain a consultant for the company.
