Abilities Movement, in collaboration with the New York State Canal Corporation and with support from Homesteads for Hope, has launched an inclusive kayaking program aimed at empowering individuals of all abilities this summer.
Through the On the Canals excursions program, adaptive kayaking outings will be offered on the historic Erie Canal on Saturdays through August 26 at Homesteads for Hope in Ogden.
Funding for the free program is provided through a grant from the New York State Canal Corp.
In addition to the individual and group kayaking opportunities, Abilities Movement will provide opportunities for individuals and families to try adapted kayaking during Thursdays at the Farm, a Homesteads for Hope program that features live music, food and community connection on Thursday nights in the summer.
“Whether you’re seeking to experience sitting in a kayak or are eager to venture out onto the beautiful Erie Canal with an instructor, we have something for everyone,” said Mike Tuller, executive director of Abilities Movement.
