The ice rink facility in Brighton currently known as Bill Gray’s Regional Iceplex is looking for a new naming-rights sponsor.

While the Monroe Community Sports Centre Corp. () has dropped a lawsuit it filed in November against restaurateur Bill Gray’s that sought payment for $317,000 in alleged unpaid rent, naming rights fees and advertising dues, the sports facility will have a new naming partner.

The MCSCC has announced a request for proposals (RFP) to replace Bill Gray’s as holder of naming rights. In 2013, Bill Gray’s had entered into what could have been a 30-year agreement, with options after every 10 years. The options won’t be renewed.

The facility is seeking a naming rights partner “to support its vision and growth as one of the premier multi-use sports and entertainment centers in North America,” the MCSCC said in a prepared statement. The agreement with Bill Gray’s called for $50,000 in annual naming-rights fees.

“I want to extend our deep gratitude to Bill Gray’s, who has been a great partner for the past 10 years, aiding our team in driving substantial growth, while turning our venue into a driver of economic growth for Monroe County,” Chris Woodworth, executive director of MCSCC, said. “We are excited to work toward continuing this momentum in the future by seeking a new partner that is committed to our community, supporting our driving force of economic development.”

Proposals for the naming rights are due by 4 p.m. on Jan. 20 to MCSCC’s Joseph Dolce, the corporate partnership & events director. Request for Proposal (RFP) documents are available on the MCSCC website.

Christened in 1998, the arena operates year-round and is owned and operated by MCSCC, an 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Visit Rochester said the four-rink facility on the campus of Monroe Community College brings 1.7 million visitors to the area each year, with an estimated annual economic impact of $60 million in Monroe County.

“The facility and team are a powerhouse for sports tourism supporting the growth of youth hockey across the Northeast, driving significant impact to our hospitality, recreation and entertainment industry,” said Don Jeffries, president and CEO of Visit Rochester.
