The Rochester Women’s Giving Circle announced the eight recipients of its 2022 grants, which total $182,000.

Grants are made to organizations in Monroe County that help women and girls living in poverty to gain the education, training, skills and jobs necessary to achieve economic independence.

This is the 15th year that the Giving Circle has awarded grants. In that time, it has distributed more than $2 million to nonprofit organizations aligned with the Circle’s mission.

The 2022 grantees and programs are:

  • Agape Haven of Abundance: Urban Youth Empowerment Program;
  • Cameron Community Ministries: Respect & Responsibility for Girls;
  • Center for Teen Empowerment: The Young Women’s Leadership and Employment Project;
  • Friends of the Garden Aerial: Green Visions – Growing Healthy Futures;
  • Judicial Process Commission: Women’s Legal Action and Employability Project and Support Services;
  • Unity Hospital of Rochester: Project Independence at Healthy Moms;
  • Urban League of Rochester: Project Families in Transition, and
  • Villa of Hope: Work-Based Learning.

The Giving Circle is a community of women who recognize that they have greater strength and potential for positive community impact when they give together. Every member makes an annual donation and can participate in the grantmaking process.

The money donated each calendar year is granted out the following year. The Giving Circle is an advised fund at Rochester Area Community Foundation.
