Three Rochester news organizations were recognized for broadcasting excellence in the Region 11 Small Market Edward R. Murrow Awards.
Seth Voorhees of Spectrum News won twice. He won the Murrow Award for Feature Reporting for “I’m Here to Document Them,” a story about a local photographer documenting the last remaining pay phones, and another for Excellence in Writing for a compilation of work.
WXXI News also was recognized twice; in the Podcast category for “Ear Shot — Buy a T-shirt, Get the Weed for Free,” an episode produced and edited by Veronica Volk featuring Gino Fanelli’s story about a Rochester market for recreational marijuana; and for Excellence in Video for “Meet the Rochester Pianist Who Lends a Tune to Silent Films” by Max Schulte.
WROC-TV was honored in the Digital category for a series of submissions that included Postscript with Adam Chodak, Rochester Rundown, What’s Good and Songs from Studio B.
Region 11 incudes New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Winning submissions from all 14 regions move on to the national competition.
