The parent company of Northwest Bank, the bank based in Warren, Pa., with branches in the Rochester area, has completed a $213.4 million merger with a smaller bank in Muncie, Ind.
MutualBank, with 36 offices in Indiana, began operating as Northwest Bank offices as of Monday.
The merger allows Northwest to expand its footprint westward, as its closest offices to Muncie until now were in Ohio. Before the merger, Northwest operated 170 full branches and eight free-standing drive-through locations in Pennsylvania, Ohio and New York. Four branches are in Monroe County.
A spokeswoman for Northwest Bancshares Inc. said Rochester-area customers should not feel any impact or changes from the merger with MutualBank’s parent, MutualFirst Financial Inc.
