Listen to this articleRochester Business Journal reporter Andrea Deckert won gold in the medium category for Best Beat Reporting: Tech & Innovation at the Alliance of Area Business Publishers Excellence Awards announced Tuesday at the 2026 Summer Conference in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Deckert was recognized for three stories published in 2025: “Golisano Institute powers up with AI, launches new certificate and partnership with robotics firm,” published May 5; “West Henrietta’s Token launches smart ring to combat cybersecurity threats,” published May 16; and “L3Harris’ Rochester team plays key role in groundbreaking space telescope,” published July 1.
AABP’s Excellence Awards honor editorial and design excellence annually. The competition is coordinated and judged by faculty in the University of Missouri School of Journalism. The purpose of the competition is to encourage a high level of journalistic performance and service to communities by recognizing editorial excellence and outstanding visual presentation in regional business publications.
