At least 17 eateries in the Honeoye Falls–Lima district are working to help raise money for educational experiences by participating in the first HFL Restaurant Week Sept. 30 to Oct. 6.
Each restaurant, bar or other establishment that serves food and drink will provide a portion of its proceeds that week to the HFL Education Fund, which gives grants to educators to enhance student experiences. Participating businesses will also feature at least one special restaurant week dish on their menus that week.
The week-long event will also have a preview Sept. 25 when guest chef Chris Hobaica takes over the kitchen at Mendon 64 for a four-course Italian and Lebanese fusion dinner. Reservations can be made by calling (585) 433-9464.
“The level of enthusiasm among our participating restaurants is fantastic, and really speaks to the value that they and our community place on education,” said Lauri Hofmann, president of the HFL Education Fund. “We’re not only looking forward to welcoming local residents as they sample our community’s fantastic dining options that week, but also hope to shine a spotlight on HFL’s unique restaurants to the broader Finger Lakes region.”
The HFL Education Fund has provided $20,000 in grants since it was founded, including some to establish an indoor sustainability garden at the high school library, and aids for teaching reading and writing to second grade students.
The establishments participating in restaurant week spread across the school district, including the hamlet of Mendon, the village of Honeoye Falls and the town of Lima. Participants include:
