CallVista's impending closing means 75 more jobs lost in Henrietta

The expiration of a lease and an overabundance of staff members at other call centers has prompted the closing of a Henrietta-based business, meaning 75 employees will be looking for jobs.

CallVista, a call center working exclusively with Internet-based marketing clientele, will close on July 15. No jobs at CallVista will be retained but employees can apply to remain with the parent company, OSG, and work at call centers in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Mesa, Ariz., Oil City, Pa., or Plainville, Conn.

“Due to excess capacity at other facilities and the expiration of our lease, it no longer makes business sense to maintain operations in Rochester,” Shannon Seastead, senior vice president of corporate marketing and communications for OSG, said this morning.

OSG, headquartered in Ridgefield Park, N.J., is assisting employees on an individual basis to allow job interviews at other firms within the workday, Seastead said.

“We’re working really hard with them to make this transition as easy as possible,” she said.

CallVista’s closing will be another significant hit to Henrietta’s employment base in the past 15 months, following the closing of Amesbury/Truth, Alleson Athletic, Sears and Sam’s Club, and job reductions at Alstom Signaling.
