Getinge USA to make job cuts by Jan. 1
Listen to this articleGetinge USA Inc., the Henrietta-based unit of the Sweden-based Getinge AB, will lay off 52 workers on Jan. 1 as it closes its local Getinge Sourcing LLC operation.
The company cited economic conditions as the reason for the decision in a modified Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act filing on Monday with state Department of Labor.
The company in June posted a notice of 69 layoffs beginning Sept. 1.
Getinge USA’s sales, service and marketing functions will remain at the local site, company leaders said at the time of the first announcement. The manufacturing work, done by Getinge Sourcing, is being transferred to facilities in Poland.
Getinge Sourcing manufactures medical devices, primarily steam sterilizers used in both health care and life science applications.
