Rochester Drug Cooperative buys Pa. wholesaler

Rochester Drug Cooperative Inc. has acquired a Pennsylvania pharmaceutical wholesaler.
RDC said today that it completed the purchase of Valley Drug Co. in Newcastle from DrugMax Inc. on Dec. 27. The Farmington, Conn.-based DrugMax will continue to run some 80 pharmacies under the Arrow Pharmacy & Nutrition Center and Familymeds Pharmacy names, RDC said. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
The Rochester-based RDC is a 144-member cooperative wholesaler supplying pharmaceuticals and home-health products to pharmacies and independently owned drugstores in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Valley Drug supplies markets in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky, Maryland and New York.
