NexPress Solutions LLC, a joint venture between Eastman Kodak Co. and German printing giant, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG, welcomed 400 employees today–as it formally added employees from its two founders.
“They have been working hard on the joint venture since it was announced,” said Venkat Purushotham, president of NexPress. “Now, they are officially part of the NexPress team.”
Headquartered here, the company has a wholly-owned subsidiary in Kiel, Germany.
NexPress combines Heidelberg’s leadership in commercial printing with Kodak’s expertise in digital color. It aims to create the next generation of digital color printing for personalized and customized printing. Its products will include plateless, digital color printing systems for new markets such as on-demand printing, fast-turnaround color and distribute-then-print applications.
NexPress plans to launch its new digital color printing system next May at the world’s largest printing exhibition, DRUPA, in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Heidelberg has 18,000 employees in 160 countries and ranks as the leading supplier of printing systems.
Kodak (NYSE: EK) officials have called the pact with Heidelberg the company’s most important graphic-arts alliance in more than a decade.
