REDD restaurant scheduled to open Aug. 16

REDD, the new restaurant in the former Restaurant 2 Vine space, is scheduled to open on Aug. 16.

Rochester native Richard Reddington, who came to national acclaim with his restaurants in the Napa Valley, is the Michelin-star-winning chef leading the project. He closed another restaurant named REDD in California to move back east, but maintains an interest in a casual restaurant there.

Though no formal announcements have been shared on the opening, both the website for the restaurant and its Facebook page list Aug. 16 as the opening date. An online reservation system has been set up for taking reservations, and the first two weeks after the opening are already sold out.

Dennis Wilmot, a former executive with Wilmorite Management Group, is partnering with Reddington on the restaurant. Together they formed ReddRoc LLC, the restaurant’s parent company.

Landscapers and contractors were still active at the restaurant located at 24 Winthrop St. as of Friday morning, and the windows were covered over with brown craft paper. Posted hours are 5 to 11 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

Reddington had worked at highly regarded restaurants on both coasts of the United States and in France before opening REDD in Yountville, Calif., in 2006, which is where he won a Michelin star seven times. In 2012, Reddington opened Redd Wood, a Napa style pizzeria that continues to operate.
