Where are you from originally? Cayey, Puerto Rico

Where do you call home today? Rochester

What makes you proud to be a Rochesterian?

I’m proud to be a Rochesterian because this city raised me, challenged me, and shaped who I am. It provided me with opportunities, mentors, networks, and it gave me a purpose.

I’m proud to be a Rochesterian because of how culturally diverse it is and how we can all celebrate and educate others about our cultures.

I now get to pour back into the same city that poured into me and try to make it as impactful to the next generation.

Envision our community at its very best. What does a thriving community look like to you?

A thriving community is one where people invest in each other. Where everyone feels valued and seen. Where culture is embraced, celebrated, and passed down with pride. Where businesses can grow in the neighborhoods they serve. Where communities have safe and dignified housing and schools that inspire curiosity and dreams.

A thriving community to me is when we are at a place where we believe “my success doesn’t require your failure.” We can all go further together.

How do you help strengthen our community?

I help strengthen by investing in neighborhoods that have been overlooked so families can have safer, higher-quality housing. I also build partnerships that open doors for others, not just myself. I serve on boards and in organizations that shape policy, culture, education, and impact because our community deserves voices at the table who genuinely care. I mentor and inspire our youth and share knowledge, so the next generation starts further ahead than I did.

Strengthening our community is not just doing one thing. It’s the everyday choices to plant seeds, build relationships, lift others, and leave things better than I found them.

What causes, issues, or organizations do you actively support?

I currently support these organizations: Puerto Rican Festival, FoodLink, PathStone Corporation, The Summit Federal Credit Union, IBERO, RIT.

Each of these organizations are near and dear to me and organizations that make an impact in various aspects within our community.

What was the most surprising aspect of your Leadership Rochester experience?

The most surprising part for me was realizing how many people across different sectors are quietly doing powerful, transformational work in our community. Work most people never see, and stories most people never hear.

Leadership Rochester showed me that leadership isn’t just held by people with titles, platforms, or public visibility. Some of the most impactful leaders are inside classrooms, nonprofits, small businesses, neighborhood organizations, creating change every single day without recognition.

It reminded me that Rochester’s strength isn’t found in one person, one organization, or one initiative. It’s found in the collective. That realization expanded the way I think about leadership and community impact. It made me see that true transformation happens when all those pockets of good connect.

What’s one hidden gem you wish more people knew about in our community?

The Puerto Rican Festival! Most people think it’s just a three-day event with music, food, concerts and dancing. But the real gem is the impact behind it. It’s 55 years of history. It’s the cultural preservation, the generational pride, the education, the leadership pipeline it has built for decades. It’s the way it gives people a place to be seen, to belong, and to connect. The Puerto Rican Festival isn’t just a weekend, it’s where heritage meets legacy. That is the hidden gem I wish more people understood. And I’m proud that Rochester is one of the few cities in the entire country where a tradition like this continues to thrive and grow.
