“Giving on ROC the Day is easy — but the impact lasts all year,” said Erin Bombard, senior director of marketing and communications for the United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes. “It’s amazing what this community can do in just one day.”

The 2025 event comes at a challenging time for the nonprofit sector, which continues to face funding uncertainties and growing demand for services. In response, United Way has reshaped its grants strategy to strengthen nonprofit capacity and deliver resources more quickly. The organization is also calling on local business leaders to engage in supporting the cause.

“Strengthening nonprofits is not . It is strategy. It is economic stewardship,” Jaime Saunders, president and CEO of United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes, wrote in a recent Rochester Business Journal guest column. “And it is one of the most important investments we can make to build a more resilient, equitable and prosperous region for all.”
