Spirit Airlines to end service in Rochester

Spirit will be pulling out of Rochester, a little over three years after the budget carrier began service at .

As part of a reorganization, Spirit will end Rochester service on Jan. 7.

The -based carrier offered flights from ROC to Orlando and Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Houston; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and Cancun, Mexico.

Spirit has filed for bankruptcy twice within the year. As part of the latest reorganization, the airline is also ending service to four other cities: St. Louis, Phoenix, Milwaukee and Palonegro, Colombia.

“While disappointed, we wish Spirit well as they address their financial situation,” Andy Moore, airport director for , said in a news release. “ROC remains committed to working with our current airline partners to recruit and secure additional nonstop services to the Orlando area.”
