Gallo & Iacovangelo is a general practice law firm providing legal services in Personal Injury, Residential and Commercial Real Estate, Business Formation, Estate Planning and Administration, and more. The firm has been in business for 54 years and has 42 employees.

What inspired the founding of your company, and what was its original mission?

Louis J. Gallo had been practicing law as a solo practitioner for approximately 13 years when Frank B. Iacovangelo met him shortly after graduation from law school in 1965. They shared office space in downtown Rochester and helped each other out on cases. The relationship worked so well they decided to form the partnership in 1971, thereby creating the foundation for a general practice firm handing many types of cases but primarily real estate and estate practice.

What were the most significant milestones or turning points in the company’s 50+ years in business?

There have been several milestones over the life of the firm; one of the most significant in recent times was our relocation to our current office space. This move secured the firm’s long-term commitment to the community, ensuring that Gallo & Iacovangelo will continue to have a local presence for years to come. Our offices in Brighton provide improved access for the public and our clients with easy access from the expressway, free parking, state-of-the-art technology and room for future growth.

How have your core values and vision influenced the way your company operates?

Our core values and vision which guide the firm are really quite simple; maintain a strong work ethic and remain dedicated to the people we represent in the greater Rochester community. Honest and respectful treatment for our clients was important 50 years ago and still is today. Getting the job done has always been the goal when it comes to representing clients. We can only do that with the contributions from all the employees who see the importance of teamwork, loyalty and dependability.

How has your company adapted to industry changes or economic challenges over the years?

Industry changes will always provide challenges. Through training and a focus on staying current with technological advances, we try to minimize the stress that comes with change. Being a personal services business, the firm’s employees are its greatest asset. We have focused on building long-lasting relationships with our clients and stressed the importance of making sure each client is aware of the services we provide. This cross-selling of legal services has worked well for our firm.

What’s unique about your workplace culture that has contributed to your longevity?

Our culture is not complicated or unique. Simply stated, our goal is to provide quality legal services to our clients at a reasonable cost. In order to accomplish this, we need employees who understand this mission and believe in the methods to deliver the service. This can only occur if everyone is on board. We have an open-door policy which allows for the flow of communication from manager to staff. When possible, we promote from within before hiring from outside the firm.

What role does community engagement or corporate social responsibility play in your business?

Since we are a local business, all our employees reside in and around this community. They are involved in numerous activities, groups, events and causes. Whenever possible, we support their efforts by providing opportunities to remain engaged and create a positive impact. As a firm, we have participated in and sponsored a number of charitable and professional events within the Greater Rochester community.

What are the key factors that have contributed to your company’s ability to stay competitive?

The key factors that have contributed to the firm’s growth would be our ability to adapt, acquire talent and our commitment to staff retention. Long-term growth requires foresight to acknowledge change and respond accordingly. The COVID-19 pandemic was a prime example of the necessity to think outside the box and establish creative solutions. Our success during the pandemic is a true testament to the attorneys and staff who put in the extra effort.
