Regional Director, Evans Bank

Years in current role: 1

What was the most significant challenge your organization faced in 2024, and how did you address it?

During 2024 it was announced that Evans Bank would be merging with NBT Bank. The more we learned about NBT, the more excited our team became about this opportunity and the additional capabilities NBT will offer our clients. They are looking to grow in Rochester and make this region a focal point and our team and clients cannot wait to be part of this next chapter!

What trends or innovations in your industry do you anticipate having the biggest impact in 2025?

I feel that with the anticipated loosening of regulations we might see more merger activity in the banking arena. There have already been two local announcements in the fourth quarter of 2024, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see additional announcement regionally in 2025. I believe we are going to see AI playing a larger role, particularly when combining with the human element to provide a more gratifying customer experience. We will also continue to see greater advancement to stave off cyber threats, which unfortunately have become the norm.

What role do you see Rochester playing in your organization’s growth over the next few years?

Rochester is going to play a very important role in our organization’s growth in 2025 and beyond. Rochester will be integral to the success of the merger between Evans Bank and NBT Bank linking the Syracuse market to the Buffalo market. Post-merger, Buffalo/Rochester will be the largest MSA that NBT operates within, which means the growth of the Rochester market will have significant impact as to how the success of the merger is measured. Rochester will be a focal point for bringing NBT’s bank operations west.
