What inspired the founder(s) to start the company?

As a college student, I studied Landscape Architecture.  To ensure design ideas were well conceived and well executed, I learned it was better to be the developer than a member of the design team.

What were some of the biggest challenges the business faced in its early years? How has the company evolved over time?

The timing of our formation coincided with the bursting of the dotcom bubble and 9/11.  Those events presented a very challenging environment in the formative years of the company.  The company has evolved as one of the foremost developers, owners and operators of multifamily housing communities by striving for continuous improvement in everything we do.

How many family members are involved in the business, and what roles do they play?

David Riedman – President and CEO. Alec Riedman – Director of Property Management. Alec oversees the day-to-day operations, including maintenance, resident relations, leasing activity, financial management, and capital expenditures, ensuring properties are well maintained and profitable. Michael Riedman – Development Manager.

What role does the company play in the local community? Are there community initiatives or causes that the firm supports?

In the development of new apartment communities and the rehabilitation of aging properties, Riedman has made its mark by completing projects that are well planned, fiscally sound, and a positive influence on the communities in which they are located.
