The Rochester Economic Development Summit is set to take place during Global Entrepreneurship Week® (GEW) on November 20 and 21. GEW is a weeklong campaign that aims to empower entrepreneurs worldwide, reaching 10 million people through 40,000 activities in over 200 countries each year.

“By aligning with Global Entrepreneurship Week^®, we are setting the stage for a renaissance through our collaborative localized approach to building community wealth in Rochester,” Campbell said.

The summit was born out of a collective desire to address the economic challenges facing the Rochester community and to foster collaboration among local leaders, businesses and policymakers. The inspiration came from seeing the potential for Rochester to grow and thrive through shared efforts and innovative solutions.

The summit was built upon three core values: Empower, prosper and cocreate. These principles are reflected in the event’s structure and goals, designed to promote a holistic approach to economic development.

Attendees can immerse themselves in interactive workshops, insightful panels and expert keynotes to help participants overcome challenges and grow their businesses. The goal is to create a thriving local economy where prosperity is shared equitably by facilitating strategic networking and collaborations. Economic barriers will be replaced with co-created solutions.

“The inspiration for this summit came from a realization of the immense potential Rochester has if we leverage collective efforts and innovative solutions,” Campbell said. “By uniting local economic development organizations, we aim to create a more equitable Rochester where economic mobility is a reality for all.”

Although this year marks the debut of the Economic Development Summit, the organizers envision it becoming a premier regional event over the next five years, with plans for expansion and increased collaboration with national thought leaders.

“We expect to see the summit grow exponentially, building on the insights and collaborations formed each year,” Campbell said.

Attendees can look forward to a VIP reception, breakout sessions, professional networking opportunities and a keynote address from Andy Stoll, a social entrepreneur known for his work in ecosystem building and community development. Stoll will provide practical strategies for fostering innovation and economic growth within local communities.

The summit will also feature a Capital Matchmaker and Procurement Fair, designed to connect businesses with funding sources and procurement opportunities. This fair aims to provide critical resources for business growth and job creation.
