What do you think the biggest changes in the health care industry will be over the next year?

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has launched the Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience (GUIDE) initiative. This comprehensive dementia care program aims to support those living with Alzheimer’s and their unpaid caregivers through care coordination, caregiver education, and support. This is a groundbreaking initiative as it provides funding for services that address social drivers of health. ESLC is thrilled to be joining 390 approved providers nationwide in 2025 to build this innovative model, which will significantly improve the quality of care for individuals with dementia and their families — at home.

What is one change you would make to the health care industry if you could?

The one change I would make, and am working toward, to the health care environment is to shift from a fragmented model to a coordinated, holistic, person-centered approach. This would involve increased partnerships among care and community programs and restructuring funding mechanisms to support the integration of primary care, mental health services, social support, and preventive care. Expanding funding to include care coordinators, case managers, community health workers, wellness programs, health education, and nutrition services would promote better overall health and well-being, improving the quality of life for all and, especially, older adults.

What are your favorite activities in the Rochester area?

This region has a rich variety of arts and culture, fabulous restaurants and wines, and picturesque landscapes and parks perfect for sightseeing, hiking, and trail riding for anyone to enjoy. Personally, I love the outdoors and enjoy all the seasons. Rochester is fortunate to have beautiful lakefront and riverway areas, and in the summer, you can typically find me near the water, enjoying activities like boating, beach games, and river cruises with friends and family.
