YMCA of Greater Rochester fully opens wellness center at Innovation Square

The YMCA of Greater Rochester has announced the completion of The YMCA at Innovation Square, an 11,000-square foot wellness center located in Center City.

First opened to YMCA members and tenants at Innovation Square last October, The YMCA at Innovation Square features two group exercise studios, dedicated space for cardio and strength training, changing rooms and showers and now street-level elevator access directly into a member welcome center.

Tenants living at Innovation Square have 24/7 access including equipment, like Peloton bikes, included as part of their rental agreements, with the opportunity to upgrade to a full YMCA of Greater Rochester membership to access all member benefits including, group exercise classes.

“We are proud to see this YMCA branch reach its full potential to keep wellness here in the heart of downtown Rochester,” said George Warren, vice president of Urban Services, YMCA of Greater Rochester. “It was pivotal for us to find like-minded partners, like the Gallina family, to create this space for our members who live and work in the city, and we continue to work to find new and different ways to meet the needs of our members in the city of Rochester.”

Added Andrew Gallina, president of Gallina Development Corp., “The YMCA has always been a staple in our community and we’re proud to have them continue that legacy here at Innovation Square.”

In addition to the project’s completion, State Sen. Jeremy Cooney (D-Rochester) prioritized $300,000 in New York State funding to make the street-level elevator entry possible at The YMCA at Innovation Square, with the goal to make the YMCA location accessible to all.
