R.P. Fedder, a Rochester-based supplier and manufacturer of air filters and engineered air filtration solutions for some of the world’s largest companies, has been acquired by Rensa Filtration, an Illinois-based manufacturer of consumable, mission-critical air filtration products.
Fedder leaders see the partnership as critical to growing and expanding its filtration offering for its customers, as Rensa operates eight filter manufacturing sites across North America.
Fedder engineers and manufactures customized air filters for OEM customers globally. Its manufacturing business will partner with Rensa’s Engineered Filtration Products business to increase its capabilities for customers in applications ranging from industrial to medical.
“The needs for air filtration are changing rapidly,” said Brandon Ost, Rensa CEO, in a release, noting that the COVID pandemic and this season’s wildfires have highlighted the importance of air quality and its effects on our health and well-being. “Rensa exists to provide truly innovative solutions to new and emerging challenges in filtration and R.P. Fedder’s history of innovation aligns with our goals. Together, we will continue to support our customers with innovative filtration solutions.”
Christopher Fox, president of R.P. Fedder, pointed to the benefits of the R.P. Fedder and Rensa union.
“It has been difficult to compete with larger companies in this industry who have more purchasing power and the benefits of scale,” he said. “Working with Rensa, we have already realized significant benefits in several categories, which will enable us to continue growing and supporting our local and global customers.
As a distributor of air filtration products and engineered solutions for education, healthcare and high-tech manufacturing facilities in upstate New York, R.P. Fedder will now provide Rensa filters in addition to filtration products and equipment from other leading companies.
R.P. Fedder was founded in 1959 in a Rochester garage and has served Eastman Kodak, Xerox and many other companies and facilities during its 64-year history.
Since Fox purchased the company in 2019, employment has increased 50 percent and Fedder and Rensa anticipate continued growth in the coming year because of the acquisition.
In addition to acquiring R.P. Fedder, Rensa also acquired APC Filtration, in Ontario, Canada.
