Years in current role: 10
What do you enjoy most about your position in your company and/or your role in the community?
What I love most is getting to know so many folks in Rochester. Providing LGBTQ+ training and consultation allows me to gain a more intimate knowledge of community organizations and the work they do in creating a more vibrant and welcoming city for everyone. I love giving people language, information, and tools to better support their colleagues, clients, and community.
What is one thing you hope to accomplish before the end of the year?
This year, I hope to increase the number of people who are aware of the many LGBTQ+ resources that Trillium Health has to offer. Specifically, I would like for every K-12 school in Monroe County to have knowledge of our Gender Expansive Children’s Playgroup & Parent/Caregiver Support Group, as well as our Transgender Teen Peer Support Group & Parent/Caregiver Support Group. These groups are free and provide a much-needed resource for youth and families in our community.
What are your favorite things about the Rochester area?
My favorite thing about Rochester is the people. I love living in a place that has created a sense of belonging for a variety of communities. My children are able to grow up in a place with other LGBTQ+ families, with other children of deaf adults. I also love that my children have access to a robust library system, a local theme park and beach, a science museum and planetarium, the Strong National Museum of Play, and so much more. I also love having work meetings and seeing friends at Equal Grounds coffee house.
