What do you enjoy most about your position in your company and/or your role in the community?

Working at a mission-driven organization that embodies fiscal responsibility is profoundly rewarding. Anything that I may accomplish individually is only possible given the dedicated work of our staff, volunteers, interns, and donors. I am proud (and immensely thankful) to stand on the strong shoulders of those that preceded me and to continue their visionary work. Knowing that our efforts contribute to accessible health care and better outcomes for individual patients and the community as a whole brings immense satisfaction.

What are your favorite things about the Rochester area?

Rochester embodies a vibrant and diverse community. The city is a melting pot of cultures, ideas, and perspectives, creating a rich tapestry of experiences. From the lively arts and cultural scene to the array of culinary delights, there’s always something new and exciting to discover. Rochester’s natural beauty, with its stunning parks and breathtaking landscapes, adds to the charm. Ultimately, it is the people of Rochester, their resilience, and their commitment to service and one another that makes it truly special.

What do you see as the biggest challenges facing Rochester?

Racism stands as the single biggest challenge facing the city of Rochester. Its pervasive presence continues to perpetuate systemic injustices, manifesting in various forms of discrimination and inequities. Racism, which is a public health crisis, permeates housing, health care, education, and other critical systems. De facto and de jure racism persist, resulting in profound health disparities, limited access to quality education, and unequal opportunities for economic advancement. To overcome this challenge, collective efforts are required to dismantle discriminatory structures, promote inclusivity, foster cultural understanding, and implement policies that address the root causes of racism. Only then can Rochester truly thrive and reach its full potential.
