The Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce will present an event with the Rochester Threat Advisory Committee on July 28 entitled “Taking Action Against Targeted Violence.”

The program is designed to help local businesses better prepare to keep their employees and organization safe from potential targeted violence.

The event- part of the chamber’s Rochester TRENDS series – will run from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and be held at the Paychex Auditorium at Strong Museum.

It is complimentary for Greater Rochester Chamber members, friends, and community partners and will include a light breakfast and coffee, followed by a ninety-minute presentation. Click here to register.

Featured presenters at the event will include:

  • Todd K. Baxter, sheriff, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office;
  • Michael Fowler, chief deputy, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office;
  • Andrew Lehman, manager, Worldwide Corporate Security, Kodak;
  • Joseph Testani, ROCTAC program manager, Federal Bureau of Investigation (retired), and
  • Greg Wildman, sergeant, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, ROCTAC coordinator.

ROCTAC, which is built in partnership with social services agencies, the private sector and regional law enforcement officials, collaborates to prevent acts of targeted violence before they occur.

It is focused on keeping Monroe County safe through community-based intervention approaches for threats by individuals experiencing an emotional or mental health crisis, grievance-fueled violence or online radicalization.

“Nothing is more important to us than the safety and well-being of our members, their teams and our community,” said Bob Duffy, Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce president and CEO. “Thank you to Sheriff Baxter and the ROCTAC task force for sharing their expertise and providing resources to organizations who may be experiencing a safety challenge.”
