CEO, Optimax Systems, Inc.
Plympton has been CEO of Optimax for 25 years, and has helped the Ontario, Wayne County-based company grow from a small start-up to America’s largest precision optics manufacturer.
In addition to his work at Optimax, Plympton is heavily involved in workforce development efforts in the region and supports the optics industry with his board work. Plympton is a board member for Canandaigua National Bank and OSA Foundation, chair of Finger Lakes Workforce Investment Board and FAME Student Scholarship Committee, treasurer for the Optics and Electro-Optics Standards Committee, and a coach for University of Rochester New Ventures Graduate Studies.
Plympton, who was inducted into the Rochester Business Hall of Fame in 2018, participated in the Aspen Institute Fellowship for Job Quality in 2018-19 and served on the Finger Lakes Community College Foundation Board from 2013-19. He received the SBA New York State Small Business Person of the Year Award in 2012.
