Founder and chairman, Paychex, Inc.
What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned in your career?
Be brave, be fair, act with integrity, and above all, always strive to create a good deal for everyone.
What’s been your biggest success?
First of all, my family. Then Paychex, other small businesses I’ve helped to launch, and I hope the positive impact made on people’s lives through my philanthropy.
Who have been the biggest mentors in your career?
I’ve learned a lot more from people who have made mistakes (including myself) than from those who have done it right.
What do you do to unplug in your free time?
I’m playing more golf and will, on occasion, smoke a cigar on warm nights in Florida.
