Greenlight Networks christened its new headquarters on East Henrietta Road on Tuesday morning, a testament to the firm’s rapid growth and belief in the future.
The facility is a $46 million adaptive reuse of the building that housed Getinge Sourcing from 1954 until 2015. It’s now home to Greenlight’s leadership and administration teams, customer support and engineering staff, along with its joint venture, Greenlight LeChase Construction.
Founded in 2011, Greenlight Networks provides ultra high-speed broadband service to residential and small-business customers. The company also owns, operates and installs its fiber-optics network.
Greenlight ranked No. 1355 on this year’s Inc. 5000, a list of the country’s fastest-growing firms.
While the company had shown steady progress since inception, operations reached a new growth level when Tom Golisano obtained a controlling equity interest in 2018. He then made an incremental $100 million investment in December 2019 to launch the service in Erie County by the spring of 2021.
“Our company was founded in Rochester and continues to grow our headquarters and our network footprint here thanks to the breadth of experienced telecom and internet professionals in the region and the available talent pool being cultivated at area colleges and universities including the Rochester Institute of Technology, SUNY Geneseo, Monroe Community College and the University of Rochester,” company president and CEO Mark Murphy said in a news release.
“Contributing to our growth in this area is also the overwhelming support of our customers and increasing demand from prospective customers who need access to high speed internet now more than ever.”
Greenlight Networks has increased its workforce from 53 to 78 in the past year, and officials say that number could reach 150 as expansion continues.
Empire State Development is assisting Greenlight Networks with its continued growth with up to $1.4 million through the Excelsior Tax Credit Program. Greater Rochester Enterprise also assisted with the project.
