Windstream to expand on South Clinton Avenue

Windstream has announced plans to consolidate Rochester operations at the Seneca Building, 20 S. Clinton Ave.

The move will bring about 350 employees over from the former EarthLink offices at 330 Monroe Ave. and is expected to be completed by the end of October. Windstream employees about 700 in Rochester and has no plans of terminating any positions as a result of the move.

Windstream has operated in the Seneca Building since 2012 and will add 30,000 square feet of work area on the third floor as part of the move.

“We are excited to reinforce our commitment to downtown Rochester,” said Mike Flannery, senior vice president of customer advocacy for Windstream, in a statement. “The city is home to a large and very talented information technology and telecommunications workforce, and we are proud of our role as a corporate citizen of such a vibrant community.”

Based in Little Rock, Ark., Windstream has held a presence in the Rochester area since the 2011 acquisition of PAETEC Communications. In 2017, Windstream merged with Atlanta-based EarthLink in a $1.1 billion deal, building the company’s presence on Monroe Avenue.

Number 429 on the Fortune 500, Windstream is a provider of network communications and technologies for businesses, as well as broadband and entertainment services for consumers in 18 states.

The renovation for the move will be carried out by Gallina Development Corp.
