Runnings has opened a 94,000 square-foot store in Canandaigua, adding roughly 80 jobs.

The Minnesota-based home, farm and outdoor retailer, is located at 3191 County Road 10 in the space that formerly housed Wal-Mart Stores Inc.

“We invite everyone to come and take a look inside our store at what we call ‘stores within a store,’” said Dennis Reed, owner of Runnings. “It’s your one-stop tool store, pet supply store, clothing store, sporting goods headquarters, and farm supply store, all in one convenient location.”

The store is part of a major expansion for Runnings. The company has opened Upstate New York stores in Gloversville and Rome, as well.  Next the company will expand in Clay, Onondaga County and Claremont, N.H. The two stores are set to open in the spring of 2015.

A grand opening celebration will take place Oct. 15-19.

The family-owned business employs over 1,500 workers across Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Montana.
