Von Maur to replace Bon-Ton at EastView
EastView Mall has found a replacement for its Bon-Ton store, which is scheduled to close in February.
Mall owner Wilmorite Management Group LLC said Monday that Von Maur, a Midwest department store chain comparable to Lord & Taylor or Nordstrom, is set to open in fall 2013.
The store would be Von Maur’s first Northeast location. The chain has its headquarters in Davenport, Iowa. It has some 25 stories, in chiefly in the Midwest with one in the Atlanta area.
Earlier this month, the Bon-Ton Stores Inc. announced an agreement to sell its three department stores in the Rochester market to Wilmorite for $13.25 million. The announcement of Von Maur affects the EastView Mall location only.
The closing of the Greece Ridge Center Bon-Ton store is scheduled for March 2012, while the closing of the Marketplace Mall location is scheduled for March 2014. No replacement stores have been announced for either yet.
A representative of Wilmorite said the Von Maur store will create approximately 200 new jobs, and the construction project will create 144 jobs.
