Through the acquisition of Rochester Binding and Finishing Inc., Monroe Litho Inc. is expanding services and eliminating the need for third-party operators.
The deal, announced Tuesday, provides Monroe Litho with in-house die-cutting, wire-binding and high-speed collation services. Through a purchase agreement for the majority of Rochester Binding’s assets, Monroe Litho also added and an undisclosed number of employees.
With 74 existing local employees, Monroe Litho ranked eighth on the Rochester Business Journal’s most recent list of commercial printers. The addition of Rochester Binding rounds out the company’s existing printing, fulfillment and distribution work.
Rochester Binding owner and CEO Rudy Warren called the deal a smart one for both parties.
“With the way the industry is advancing, customers want to have one source for their printing needs. Gone are the days when customers would have multiple vendors work on one project. These days it is all about simplicity,” he said in a statement.
Monroe Litho CEO Chris Pape said the acquisition came in response to customers asking for a broader scope of services.
Founded in Rochester in 1945, the company operates entirely on wind power. For it, the company was honored by Penton Media Inc.’s American Printer magazine in August. Monroe Litho took home the silver medal in the category of companies employing 26 to 99 employees.
