Clean-energy initiatives and networking opportunities in venture capital are the focus of a forum from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Memorial Art Gallery on University Avenue.
Representatives from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Rochester Institute of Technology’s E. Philip Saunders College of Business and entrepreneurs and venture capitalists are scheduled to participate in the MIT Ignite Clean Energy business plan competition.
The event is part of a year of training and competitive forums for entrepreneurs in the clean-energy industry, officials said. It is sponsored by the RIT business school and Access Upstate New York, a local private-sector initiative designed to connect local entrepreneurs with national funding sources.
Registration and networking are scheduled from 5:30 to 6 p.m., followed by a welcoming address by Ashok Rao, dean of RIT’s college of business.
Among the scheduled speakers are Daniel Ricoult, director of technology assessment at Corning Inc., who is to discuss clean-energy initiatives at Corning, and John Hession, a partner at the Boston law firm Cooley Godward Kronish LLP, who is to discuss the state of the venture capital industry.
