Based in Rochester, Hudson Hotels Corp. develops, builds and manages various hotel products, including Microtels. Formerly called Microtel Franchise and Development Corp., the company signed an agreement in October 1995 with U.S. Franchise Systems Inc., which purchased worldwide franchising and administration for the Microtel franchise chain. The company subsequently changed its name to Hudson Hotels.
As of Dec. 31, 1995, Hudson Hotels managed 16 hotel properties located primarily in the northeast and southeast United States. Those properties ranged from the budget-priced Microtels to luxury hotels. The company also had a minority equity position as either a general or limited partner in 12 entities that own hotel properties.
The company recently changed its fiscal year end to Dec. 31; therefore, the following comparisons are for the nine-month transition period ended Dec. 31, 1995, and the fiscal year ended March 31, 1995. Transition-period revenues were $6.9 million, compared with $7.3 million for the previous fiscal year ending March 31. Net income was $1.3 million, compared with $1.1 million for the previous fiscal year. Net earnings per share were 33 cents, compared with 28 cents for the previous fiscal year.
The company’s fiscal year ended Dec. 31.
