Jerry Yoder, a paramedic with St. Jerome Hospital’s Mercy Medics, has been named the 1995 Advanced Life Support Provider of the Year by the New York State Emergency Medical Services Council in Albany.
At the Genesee Community College Foundation’s annual meeting on Nov. 9, the following people were re-elected as officers: Vincent Cali, president; Vito Gautieri, vice president; Wolcott Humphrey, treasurer; and Linda Shepard, secretary.
Linda Davis was named September student of the month at Genesee Community College’s Orleans Campus Center.
Tonya Vella, a Genesee Community College office technology student, has received a $1,000 scholarship from the Office Technologies/Secretarial Educators of CUNY/SUNY.
Eastman Kodak Co., Rochester General Hospital and Rochester Community Savings Bank received Partners in Education Awards for developing outstanding partnerships with area schools. They were honored at a dinner on Nov. 29 co-sponsored by Monroe No. 1 Board of Cooperative Educational Services, the Monroe County School Boards Association and the Eastern Monroe County School-Business Partnership.
Hill Haven Nursing Home & Health Related Facility has announced the election of four new members to its board of directors. They are: Margaret Andrews, Martha Crawford, Mary Eileen Walter and Marie Whitbeck.
Walter Parkes, president of the O’Connell Electric Co. in Victor, received the James McGraw award by the National Electric Contractor’s Association at the organization’s national convention in Anaheim, Calif.
The Builders Exchange of Rochester Inc. has presented its first-ever Lifetime Achievement Awards to Anthony Cashette, Simon Cohen, Charles Davis Sr., John Dineen, Thomas Judson Sr., Raymond LeChase Sr., Pierre Loncle, Joseph Marasco, Robert Roth, Donald Shaw, Richard Stark and Robert VanHarken.
Deanne Clark, a junior majoring in English literature at Nazareth College of Rochester, has been designated a United Parcel Service (UPS) Scholar and the recipient of a $3,450 scholarship. She is one of 25 New York students who share at total of $75,950 in scholarships from the UPS Foundation’s educational endowment fund.
The Canandaigua Chamber of Commerce and the Business and Professional Women’s Association honored Gail Love, president of Human Resource Associates, with their 1995 Athena Award. The Athena Award, co-sponsored by Farnsworth Oldsmobile, recognizes women for demonstrating excellence in their professions, assuming leadership roles in the community and encouraging other women to realize their potential.
Robert Hickey, executive director of the Veterans Outreach Center Inc., was recently awarded the state Division of Military Affairs Conspicuous Service Medal by Gov. George Pataki through the efforts of Rep. Joseph Robach, D-Rochester. Hickey was selected based on his service with the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970.
James Dewhirst, president and CEO of Rochester Friendly Senior Services and the Friendly Home, was recently elected chairman of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging at its 34th annual meeting held in San Antonio, Texas.
Fred Smith has been elected 1996 chairman of the Steel Structures Painting Council–Empire/Keystone Chapter.
The American Express Foundation has announced that AIDS Rochester Inc. has received a $1,000 grant and St. Monica’s School a $600 grant from the Volunteer Action Fund. The fund awards grants to eligible organizations in which American Express employees volunteer on a regular basis. The grants to AIDS Rochester and St. Monica’s are the result of the work of Bill Glave and Dan Heffernan, American Express financial advisers based in Rochester who volunteer at the organizations.
The Rochester Eye & Human Parts Bank Inc. elected the following officers at its annual meeting: James Holahan, president; Linda Nicholson, vice president; Arthur Hirst, treasurer; and Janet Kerr, secretary. Elected to serve three-year terms as directors are: James Holahan, Linda Bay, Arthur Hirst and Eric Stonehill. Elected to serve one-year terms as executive committee members are: James Holohan, Linda Nicholson, Arthur Hirst, Janet Kerr, Mary Maher and Earlene Siebold.
Innovative Training Strategies Inc. has recently received the highest level of recognition, “Distinguished,” in the Society for Technical Communications (STC) 1995/96 Annual Technical Publications Competition. ITS Inc. submitted one of its most recent projects completed for Volvo Cars of North America Inc. titled “The 1996 Volvo Partnership for Excellence – Retail Facility Program.”
