Tickets are available for ROC the Pitch, an annual business pitch competition hosted by RIT’s Center for Urban Entrepreneurship.

The competition, featuring seven local start-ups who will pitch their business plans to guests and a panel of judges, is from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Aug. 22 at Hyatt Regency Rochester, 125 East Main St.

Tickets are $15, which includes food, and can be purchased on the Eventbrite website. Pre-registration is required.

The competition is open to business owners with an existing business plan and model generating at least $25,000 in annual gross revenue.

Judges will be examining the businesses’ unique competitive advantage, marketability, industry expertise of the owner/team, financial strength of the business and company growth.

The grand prize of $25,000 will be awarded to the winner to help bolster their business venture. Proceeds from ticket sales benefit the People’s Choice Award, which is determined by the audience on the day of the competition.

Finalists are:

• Hart Homes, a real estate investment company focused on the revitalization of urban Rochester with a commitment to fair housing, sustainable growth, environmentally friendly property improvement, and high-value housing at affordable rents.

• JonJohn’s Bakery, a family-owned and operated specialty dessert bakery.

• Statement Boutique, an independent, woman-owned lifestyle boutique.

• Sofrito Monte Caleb, a locally owned and operated business offering homemade sofrito seasoning base with handpicked, locally sourced ingredients.
