Herbert, Fear honored by TechRochester

Sheila Herbert, chief product officer at Measures for Justice, and Kathleen Fear, director of data analytics for UR Health Lab at the University of Rochester Medical Center, were named winners in the 21st Annual Technology Woman of the Year Awards by TechRochester.

Herbert received the Technology Woman of Year Award. As chief product officer for Measures for Justice, a nonprofit whose mission is to make accurate criminal justice data available in hopes of spurring reform, Herbert is responsible for developing a product portfolio that meets the evolving needs of stakeholders and helps make criminal justice data a cornerstone of system reform.

Fear received the Emerging Technology Woman of the Year Award. The UR Health Lab is the health system’s digital health incubator and is developing novel tools that capture new data streams, analyze previously unseen patterns and enable health care providers to provide individualized treatments that are more responsive, effective and precise. Fear leads a team that is leveraging data and artificial intelligence to develop new clinical decision support systems and improve the care delivered in our community.

The awards recognize, celebrate and highlight the achievements of women in high technology fields, and encourage those in the industry to stay in the Greater Rochester area, mentor young women, and contribute to the economic growth of the region.
