Ontario County only one in area to gain population

Ontario County was one of 15 New York counties whose population increased between July 1, 2011 and July 1, 2016, according to the latest U.S. Census Bureau population estimates released yesterday. Monroe County’s population remained flat, while the state’s population—driven largely by increases in New York City counties—grew by 1.2 percent over the five-year period, according to census figures. Maricopa County, Arizona, home to Phoenix, was the nation’s fastest growing county last year, adding over 222 people per day in 2016.
