Steven G. Carling is an experienced labor and employment attorney who also has extensive experience in representing school districts on matters related to education law in New York State. He most recently served as Acting General Counsel at the Rochester City School District, one of New York’s “Big 5” city school districts. His two stints as General Counsel were part of an eight-year tenure with Rochester Schools that also included positions as Acting Chief of Human Resources, Deputy General Counsel, and Associate Counsel. In addition to serving as Chief Protocol Officer and the Americans with Disabilities Compliance Officer, Steve also was the Lead Negotiator for the District’s collective bargaining agreements with the unions. Carling also has extensive experience in labor employment law from his 10 years in private practice prior to joining the Rochester School District.
Katherine S. McClung is a labor and employment law attorney who counsels employers in a wide variety of labor and employment law matters, including addressing wage and hour issues, responding to claims of employment discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, and enforcing restrictive covenant agreements. She regularly handles class actions and individual litigation in state and federal courts and administrative claims before state and federal government agencies. Prior to joining Bond, she worked at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in New York City.
Kevin J. Mulvehill is a partner at Phillips Lytle LLP and serves as the firm’s Rochester Office Leader. He is also the leader of Phillips Lytle’s Labor and Employment Team. He focuses his practice in the areas of labor and employment law; wage and hour law; class and collective actions; commercial litigation; and corporate law. He provides counsel and strongly advocates on behalf of clients, including executives and public- and private-sector business and employers. Kevin regularly represents clients as lead counsel in hearings, trials, appeals and arbitrations in state and federal courts, administrative bodies and arbitration forums throughout the United States. He is also a frequent lecturer on labor and employment and other business-related topics.
Hinna Upal provides practical solutions and strategic guidance to multinational employers on a wide range of international employment and compliance concerns and in litigation. Her competencies cover a range of workplace topics, such as discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and accommodations at the state and federal levels and before administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the New York State Division of Human Rights. She also guides employers on the intricacies associated with employment in multiple nations and the difficulties associated with conflicting jurisdictional obligations. Before joining Littler, Upal was the deputy general counsel at the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. She also served as a law clerk to the Hon. William E. Smith, chief judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island, and Justice Francis X. Flaherty, Rhode Island Supreme Court.
